"Margaret Rinkovsky’s inventive and eclectic oil paintings peer into the workings of the human nature, map the mechanisms of perception and memory and explore how mythology, both ancient and personal illuminates human experience. Employing a hybrid esthetic rooted in Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism, Ms. Rinkovsky displays an affinity for both color-field paintings and California light-and-space genre. In Rinkovsky’s paintings the atmospheric quality of impermanence is achieved through multiple feather-like applications of paint to produce densely pigmented surfaces that are rich with changing patterns of reflected and absorbed light."
